- Screwing in/penetrating the butyl tape must be avoided.
- Butyl cannot be secured mechanically!
The butyl sealing tape is suitable for sealing and fixing in industrial and construction applications as well as for overlapping and protective sealing tasks without the transmission of mechanical forces on joints, seams, connections, openings, windings and contact points and for extensive repair work indoors and outdoors.
Also ideal for bonding seams and bonding vapour barrier films, overlapping sealing for assembly parts in the automotive and roof sector, façade and equipment construction, concrete and prefabricated concrete part construction, ship, caravan and container construction, in the furniture and interior finishing industry, in sanitary and electrical installations as well as in ventilation and air conditioning technology.
The product can also be used as corrosion protection between metallic materials or for vibration damping and sound insulation. Mechanical securing is required for load transmissions.
The surfaces to be sealed must be dry, load-bearing and free from grease and dust. Absorbent and porous surfaces such as concrete, plaster etc. must be pretreated with the butyl primer. The butyl sealing tape must be carefully pressed onto the surface. Pressing the sealing surfaces together results in a perfect seal. Using excessive contact pressure on the profile will cause the sealing compound to be "pushed out". For this reason, never compress butyl products absolutely flat (use the washer as a spacer). Butyl products should always be mechanically secured due to the flow properties of the tape ("cold flow"), e.g. by screwing the parts, applying a press-on profile.
